Pauline “Polly” Edmundson Davies, age 88, passed away on April 29, 2018 in Hopewell, VA. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Davies Smith, of Tappahannock, VA and her daughter, Marsha Davies Calhoun, her son-in-law, Clinton Warren Calhoun III, and her grandson, John Clinton Calhoun, all of White Plains, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dudley Davies and her parents, Pauline Fitz Randolph Edmundson and Alban Edmundson.
Polly graduated from high school in Bridgeport, WV and attended West Virginia University, where she met her husband, John. They moved to Richmond, VA and later lived in Indiana and Pennsylvania, returned to Richmond, and then moved to Petersburg, VA.
Polly worked periodically, but most of her time was devoted to her family, home, church, and friends. She was very active in the Episcopal Church wherever they lived, serving on the alter guild, singing in the choir, participating in Bible studies, acting as a lay reader, and participating in Cursillo.
She loved acting and participated in little theatre productions. She was an avid reader. Polly was active in the community and taught her daughters to help others. She encouraged Paula and Marsha to pursue their interests, whether it was singing, horseback riding, attending summer camp, or their careers.
A memorial service will be held on June 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, 1545 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, VA 23805. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ and Grace Episcopal Church. Condolences may be registered at jtmorriss.com.
