Peggy Elrod Harris

Peggy Ann Elrod Harris, 79, of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Harris was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Hopewell. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Alfred Elrod and Georgia Burnett Elrod; her husband, Jerry Donald Harris Sr.; daughters, Rhonda Lee Dodson, and Rose Marie Harris. She is survived by her daughters, Renee Lynn Aitken, Donna C. Palmer and husband Charles; sons, Jerry â??Donnieâ? Harris Jr. and wife Cathy, and Staton V. Harris; fifteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, with Pastor Gary Griffith officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
