Peggy Dunbar Wood

Peggy Dunbar Wood, 56, of Prince George, VA, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anson Elwood Dunbar, Jr. and Marilou Wood Dunbar, and her grandfather, Anson Elwood Dunbar, Sr. Peggy was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Gary’s United Methodist Church. She loved children and worked as a child care provider for many years. She was affectionately known as “Miss Peggy” by the many children she cared for. Peggy enjoyed float fishing trips with her family. Her husband, Tom, would guide the canoe while Peggy casted lures into the trees and bushes along the bank. She is survived by her husband, Tom Wood; daughter, Clary Anne Wood; son, Jordan “Janson” Wood; brother, Michael Dunbar (Kathy); grandmother, Mildred Dunbar; mother-in-law, Mary C. Wood; brothers-in-law, Robert E. Wood (Ann) and The Rev. Stuart C. Wood; niece, Heather Merritt; nephews, Alex Dunbar, Adam Dunbar, Jonathan Wood, Benjamin Wood, and Daniel Wood. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gary’s United Methodist Church, 13501 Sunnybrook Road, South Prince George, VA 23805.
