Penny Stinson Mewhirter

Penny Stinson Mewhirter, 63, of Amelia Court House, VA, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. Born in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Albert Thomas Stinson and Dorothy Dolan Lawson; and was also preceded in death by a sister, Faye Gentry; and a nephew, Michael Lloyd. Mrs. Mewhirter retired from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Claims Specialist after many years of dedicated service. She loved fishing, camping, and hummingbirds. Penny is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, Michael "Mike" Mewhirter; one daughter, Bridget Brown (Jeff); six grandchildren, Faith, Caden, Darby, Brinn, Ember, and Asher; one great-grandson, Arlo; her three siblings, Roxann Bennett (Freddie), Nita Welch, and Thomas Stinson (Lynn); her life long friend, Joann Wilmoth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
