Percy Alvin “Bubber” Brooks, 78, of Colonial Heights, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2004 at his residence. Born in Chesterfield County, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Estella Procise Brooks. He was Superintendent of Marathon’s City Point Oil Terminal in Hopewell for 28 years before going to work at Fort Lee. He was employed at the P.W.D. Maintenance Shop where he retired from civil service in 1998 as Supervisor with 27 years of service. Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Brooks Johnson and four brothers, John, Joseph, Bernard, and Nelson. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Miller Brooks; a brother, Herbert Calvin Brooks and wife Susie; many nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Mary Miller. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, at Blandford with Elder Herbert Calvin Brooks and Elder Donald Martin of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening at the residence, 106 Eastman Avenue, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
