Pete Brown, Jr.

Pete Brown, Jr., 87, of Petersburg, VA passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his son’s residence. Born in Petersburg, VA he was the son of the late, Pete Sr. and Lila Virginia Bishop Brown; and was also preceded in death by two daughters, Janice Mayer and Becky Whelan; a granddaughter, Rachel Brown; one brother, Robert Brown; and one sister, Frances Robertson. Mr. Brown was a United States Army Veteran and had retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco in Petersburg, VA after 30 plus years of service. He was also a former member of 3rd Presbyterian Church in Petersburg. Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie E. Brown; one son, David Brown and wife, Kathryn; five grandchildren, Jennifer Brown and husband, Andrew, Kimberly Brinker and husband, Keith, and Jayme, Jacob and Irving Whelan; five great-grandchildren, Richard, Jordan, Sara, Elijah and Jovi; one brother, James Brown and wife, Mildred; two sisters, Dorotha Baker and Grace Johnson and husband, James; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 26, 2017 at the funeral home.
