Philip Carson Cooper, age 72, of Virginia Beach, VA departed this life on Monday, April 21, 2014. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Evelyn and Milton Thomas Cooper. Survived by his wife Ruby of fifty years, Philip was truly the love of her life. He is also survived by his devoted son, Carson and his wife, Lisa and two beautiful granddaughters, Mackenzie and Paige Riley; sisters, Geneva Ledford, Linda Helslander, Gale Fleenor, Sybil Woodard, Odell Covington; as well as many other family members and friends. Philip was a graduate of Ferrum Junior College and Virginia Tech. He served his country in the Vietnam War as a Sgt. Of the U.S. Army Ground Forces, receiving the Purple Heart Medal for being wounded in action. Philip loved his work and was employed in the trucking industry for over 50 years. He had a passion for flowers, fishing, and let’s not forget the award winning Christmas decorations. As a wonderful husband, father, pop pop, brother, and friend—his sweet smile and tender heart will surely be missed by all that knew and loved him. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
