Philip Angelo Morini, Sr., 92, of Petersburg, VA, died Thursday, June 2, 2016. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late James Andrew and Anna Esposito Morini. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Thayer Morini; brothers, August Morini and Andy Morini; sister, Angelina Derrig; and a granddaughter, Vicky Ogburn. Mr. Morini proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree Knight in Appomattox Assembly 1614, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the American Legion. More importantly, he was a kind and gentle man who made everyone feel like family. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Browning and husband, Freeman of Carson, and Kathy Hicks and husband, Donnie of King William; sons, Philip “Flip” Morini, Jr. of Colonial Heights and Timothy Morini and wife, Jamie of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Tracy Dorgan and husband, Martin, Heath Browning and wife, Melanie, Timothy Morini, Jr., and Caleb Morini; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Evelyn Browning; siblings, Tony Morini and Mae Bernardi both of Scranton, PA, as well as several nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, after which the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by interment at Blandford Cemetery.
