Phillip Wayne Barnes

Phillip Wayne Barnes, 84, of Chester, VA, passed away on December 7, 2024. Born and raised in Dinwiddie, VA, he was the son of the late Birdie Phillip and Anne Royster; and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith Mae, of 49 years. He is survived by his children, David Michael and his wife, Roberta, Stephen Wayne, and Sharon Anne; four grandchildren, Christopher Michael, Eric Scott, Jena Leigh, and Jared Scott; and four great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Dinwiddie High School and attended Randolph Macon Academy as well as Virginia Military Institute. An avid outdoorsman in his earlier life, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and baseball. Most recently, he was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church and devoted many hours volunteering. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2024, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Chester, VA, followed by a reception in the attached Parish Hall for refreshments and sharing of memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or St. John's Episcopal Church.
