Phyllis Kellar Bass, 84 of Chester, VA., passed away, Saturday, April 13, 2019.
Born in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan and daughter of the late, Kendall Hubert Kellar and Camilla Fauntleroy Hughes.
Phyllis was a graduate of Randolph Macon Woman’s College and was a school teacher for 37 years. She was a member of Chester Baptist Church, a founding member of the Chester YMCA, the Chester Women’s Club, Historical Society of Chesterfield, the Shepherd’s Center, Chester Community Association, and Chesterfield Senior Hall of Fame. Phyllis loved world travel, National Parks, military and Virginia history. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and teacher.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roger Thompson Bass; son, Roger T. Bass II and wife, Elizabeth Santini; grandchildren, Braden Bass, Caroline Bass and Garrett Bass; sister, Gwen Alston.
A service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at Chester Baptist Church, 4317 School St. Chester, VA 23831. The family will receive friends immediately following the service during the reception.
A graveside will be held 2:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Park.
