Phyllis Goff Burkey

Phyllis Goff Burkey, 87, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Born in Tunnelton, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Goff and Mamie Beryl Squires Goff. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Burkey. Phyllis is survived by her children, Cheryl Umbel and husband, Tom, Mark Burkey and wife, Marcia, Laura Rook and husband, Wade; grandchildren, Jared Burkey, Erin Owens, Seth Burkey, Ben Umbel, Kelly Dorrance, Caleb Rook, and Bryce Rook; and nine great-grandchildren. Phyllis was a passionate homemaker and loved to cook and take care of her family. She hosted many gatherings and enjoyed entertaining guests. She also loved music and would often indulge in various hymns. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Brighter Living Assisted Living Facility and At Home Care Hospice.
