Phyllis Jones

Phyllis Uzzell Jones, 73, a resident of Waverly died Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Born March 1, 1937, in Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late Ocie OTney Uzzell and Eunice Holland Uzzell. Phyllis was a retired waitress for Kingâ??s Barbeque and attended Faith Baptist Church in Waverly. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Fred C. Jones; a daughter, Norma Jean Jones; a son, Fred Earl Jones; and a grandson, Mickey Lee Jones.
She is survived by two daughters, Theresa Bailey and her husband, Arnie, and Phyllis Marie Inman and her husband, David; four grandchildren, William Hipes, Michael Smith, Laura Ann Krumm, and Mindi Gentry; and a great-granddaughter, Allison; sisters, Elsie L. Logan, Pauline K. Lanier, and Marjorie L. Smith; a brother, James E. Uzzell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Uncle Nick and Mae Pruitt, Jeff and Marie Jones, and Gene and Christine Clark and special great nephew, Cody Morris.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, with Rev. Raleigh Nunnally officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Swamp Church Cemetery, Ivor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 1, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Carson Volunteer Fire Department, 20015 Halifax Road, Carson, VA 23830-8944.
