Rachel Brewer

Rachel Cassell Brewer, 83, of Dinwiddie County, widow of George D. Brewer, Jr., passed away Friday, May 6, 2005. Born in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joel Thomas and Lucinda Rakes Cassell. She worked as an accountant for many years in the Real Estate business. Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by a grandson, David Todd Whiting and a brother, William Otey Cassell. She is survived by two daughters, JoAnne Burritt Whiting and husband, David and Dotty Brewer; a son, George D. Brewer, III all of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Joel Andrew Whiting, Vickie M. Brewer, Phylliss B. Fox, Laura B. Branch, and Brandon Brewer; and a great-grandchild, Rebecca G. Branch. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Monday, May 9, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Mausoleum at Southlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Thomas R. Dunkum officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the David Todd Whiting Memorial Scholarship Fund, 127 Breezy Hill Drive, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
