Rachel Cook

Rachel Edwards Cook, 93, of Richmond, died Monday, April 11, 2011. She was born in Southampton County on June 14, 1917. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Benjamin Ashby Cook. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Cook Benton of Ashland; two grandsons, Philip Evans Smith (Sherry) of Savannah, GA and Dr. Michael S. Smith (Jennifer) of Kenbridge, VA; and three grandchildren, Callie, Graham, and Emory. Mrs. Cook was a long-standing member of Patterson Ave. Baptist Church where she was active in many roles including Deaconess and Sunday school teacher. Funeral services will be held in the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2011. The family will receive friends
1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Patterson Avenue Baptist Church at 4301 Patterson Avenue Richmond, VA 23221. Condolences to the family may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
