Rachel Stegall Hayes

Rachel Stegall Hayes, age 85, of Dewitt, passed away peacefully January 5, 2022. Born on August 12, 1936 in Petersburg, VA to the late Richard W. Stegall and Rosa Cole Stegall. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she and her husband were baptized together March 19, 2006. She enjoyed watching Nascar, embroidering, hummingbirds, shopping, making homemade pickles, and flowers. She was known best for being a loving wife, mother, nanny, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Rachel is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Linwood M. Hayes; 6 children, Richard (Jasmer) Hayes, William (Susan) Hayes, Abbie (Gary) Bennett, Ron (Sandi) Hayes, Donna (Benny) Sheffield, and Lin (Tracie) Hayes; 16 grandchildren, Christy, Amanda, Elizabeth, Marie, Justin, Mandy, Carl Wayne, Cody, Taylor, Beth, Katie, Nick, Josh, Tammy, April, and Savana; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind cherished family friend, Tammy Puckett. The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Dinwiddie Chapel, 6616 Boydton Plank Road, on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 1-2 PM. A service officiated by Pastor Jacob Drake and Bob Smith will be held at 2 PM in the chapel. Interment will follow at Cutbanks Baptist Church, 24203 Cutbanks Road, McKenney.
