Rachel Fay Wester Sanders Galstan of Chester, VA age 60, formerly of Northern Virginia, passed away on November 26, 2023. Rachel was born in Monterey, California, and also lived in her early years in Whidbey Island, Washington and Lexington Park, Maryland, as her father was a pilot in the Navy, before the family settled in Northern Virginia, where she was a long-time resident. Rachel moved to Chester, VA four years ago with her mother, and was a devoted daughter and family member. She is survived by her mother, Fay Galstan of Chester, VA and her brothers; Michael, of San Mateo, CA, Samuel (Sharone Ward) of Chester, VA, and Corey (Beverlee) of Columbus, OH, and is also survived by her nephews Bailey, of Greenville, SC and Berkeley, of Richmond, VA and her niece V, of San Mateo, CA.
Rachel had the most beautiful blue eyes, and was very smart, was a friend to many and was a summa cum laude graduate of Strayer College, with a degree in computer science. She worked for many years in the restaurant industry as a server, taking excellent care of her guests. Rachel was quick to start up a conversation with anyone that she met, new friends and old; on politics, every topic under the sun that she could think of, and was a real foodie, and was never afraid to let people know where she stood. She was a free spirit and always did things her way, she loved the water, especially the Chesapeake Bay and always dreamed of going to the beach. She enjoyed driving around her neighborhood with the windows down and the radio on and keeping a close watch on things, but mostly she enjoyed taking the best of care of her mother whom she lived with, watching her shows on T.V. and keeping up with friends on social media and keeping her family informed about what was going on.
Rachel had one request, and that was to hug your loved ones every day when you see them, because you don't know which day will be your last.
