Rader Steven Jenkins, "Steve," 55, of Matoaca, passed away January 14, 2024, at VCU, surrounded by loved ones. He was self-employed and was the owner of GND Contractors. He is preceded in death by his wife, Angelia Radcliffe Jenkins; twin sister, Cheri Jenkins; mother, Betty Jenkins; maternal grandparents, Stephen and Lillian Zarensky; paternal grandparents, Geroline and Rader Jenkins, Sr. He is survived by his father, Rader Jenkins, Jr.; two sons, Gerry Godwin (Braxton) and Rader "Dylan" Jenkins (Katie); his companion, Kathrine Zevgolis; sister, Tina Taylor (Edward), four grandchildren, Carson, Auston, Leland, and Braydon; aunts, Janice Taylor (Wesley) and Doris Binn; uncles, Dennis Jenkins (Betty Jo), Charlie Jenkins (Pat), and Wayne Zarensky; nephew, Robert; nieces, Kim and Amber; and a number of cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was born May 24, 1968, at Richmond Memorial Hospital, attended school in Highland Springs, then moved to Chesterfield, graduating from Cloverhill High School. Steve started racing at a young age and was an avid racer. Starting with BMX which led to ATVs and dirt bikes. He loved racing whether it was his slot cars, RC cars, VW bug, ATVs, or dirt bike. He would spend many weekends racing with his sons, friends, and grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the funeral home.
