Ralph Ivan Lewis

Ralph L. Lewis 87, of Prince George, Virginia died on Saturday, May 20, 2017. He was the son of the late Ivan J. Lewis and Sabrina Alexander Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Donna Regeina. He was born in Bicknell, Indiana. He resided in this area since 1952. Prior to that, during his last two summers in high school, he was a drummer and played the resorts around Lake Michigan in a seventeen piece road dance band. Ralph played in the Chicago area as well as Richmond through the late 1950’s. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the pre-Korean and Korean Conflict. Then was honorably discharged as a Staff Sgt. While attending the U.S. Navy School of Music in Washington D.C. he played in the Dignitary Buried Detail in Arlington National Cemetery. He retired from VDOT with 33 years of service as Richmond District Personnel Manager. He is survived by his wife, Sue Chappell Lewis; and god-child, Elizabeth Chappell of Carson, Virginia. The family would like to give a special thanks to Crater Community Hospice and Care Advantage. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Southlawn Memorial Park.
