Ralph Wayne Ramsey, 82, of N. Dinwiddie, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lee and Ada Ramsey; maternal grandparents, Etta and Crawford Bryan; and parents, Ralph William Ramsey and Hazel Bryan Ramsey. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Mary Dianne Ramsey; sons, Bryan Ramsey (Mike) and Kevin Ramsey (Brandy); daughter, Sherry Ramsey; grandchildren, Owen Ramsey, Allie Ramsey, Riley Ramsey, Trigg Ramsey, and Remmy Ramsey; siblings, Sue Payne, Janice Storey, Jane Briggs, and Lane Ramsey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph graduated from Marshall High School in North Carolina and went on to attend Blanton College. He served in the U.S. Army. After settling in Virginia with his wife Mary, Ralph was employed with Reynolds Metals retiring after 32 years of service. He went on to work for Stefi as a truck driver for another 15 years. At the end of his working career there was nothing Ralph loved more than working for his two sons in landscaping. Ralph was a man of many talents. He was a gifted musician with the ability to play several instruments. Ralph had a passion for restoring antique cars as long as they were Chevy. He was a devout Christian man and faithful member of Matoaca Baptist Church for 52 years. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to the staff of Crater Community Hospice for their caring support. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Matoaca Baptist Church, 6409 River Rd. Petersburg, VA 23803.
