Randy Clinton Clevenger, 67, of Hopewell, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022, after a nearly 7-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Buena Vista, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles Elmer Clevenger and Rachel Pauline Clevenger of Enon and biological mother Jenny Kulp of Buena Vista.
He is survived by his partner of 28 years, Michael Creamer; sisters, Sheila Bowles (Joe), Katie Fleming (Al), Tina Roberts (Ricky) and Kathy Kulp Black (Bob); brothers, Michael Kulp, Don Kulp and Jeff Kulp; nieces, Theresa Fleming-Trexler (Jimmy), Beth Faughn (Rich); and Renee and Alissa Roberts; nephew, Jason Hancock; and several great nieces and nephews.
Randy graduated from Thomas Dale High School and then worked for nearly 30 years at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals in Petersburg, Virginia; first as a chemical technician and then as a purchasing agent. He continued his career at WestRock in Hopewell, Virginia, as a Sr. Procurement Specialist, purchasing materials used in the production of paper products.
Early on, Randy sang and played the tenor saxophone and once played Scrooge in a school production of A Christmas Carol and also appeared in Fiddler on the Roof.
In the early 80's, Randy worked with the Hooray for Hopewell Festival and served as its Entertainment Chairman in 1984.
Randy enjoyed spending lots of time with family and friends relaxing in and around his 38-foot RV; he especially enjoyed sitting by the fire after dark with a nice glass of wine and good conversation. Randy also enjoyed many seasons at Busch Gardens and other amusement parks riding the roller coasters (Griffon was his favorite) and sampling the great food (German was his favorite). Randy's great sense of humor will be sorely missed.
