Randy Cowan

Randy Joe Cowan, age 44, went to be with his Lord on February 17, 2010. Born in Hopewell on November 3, 1965, he was the son of Joe S. Cowan and Barbara Newbold Sheffield. A 1984 graduate of Sussex Central High School, Randy formerly worked as a meter reader for Dominion Power. Randy, a simple man, loved to work, enjoyed his music and most of all, loved spending time with his children, Brittany (â??Rudyâ?) and Brandon (â??Hot Rodâ?).
In addition to his parents, Randy is survived by his wife, Tamela Nunnally Cowan; a daughter Brittany Renea Cowan and her boyfriend, Kerry Patterson, of Disputanta; a son, Brandon J. Cowan, of Disputanta; four brothers, Carl and his wife, Cathy, Kent and his wife, Marsha, Shawn, and Dwayne Cowan; grandmother, Beatrice Newbold; stepmother, Alberta Cowan; stepfather, Arthur Lee Sheffield; step-sister, Kimberly Pruitt; step-brother, Lane Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Jack Newbold, and paternal grandparents, Hartwell and Hazel Cowan.
A funeral service will be held at Purviance Chapel, J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Raleigh Nunnally officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Petersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to House of Prayer, 5884 Riverdale Drive, Jamestown NC 27282.
