Raymond Michael Brewer, Jr.

Raymond M. Brewer, 42, of Prince George, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2022. He was born March 1, 1980, in Newport News, VA.

He was a 1998 graduate of Hopewell High School. After high school, he received a full-ride scholarship and attended Lincoln Technical School where he studied HVAC. Raymond was employed by Warwick Mechanical Group in Richmond and was a Master HVAC Tradesman. He was a hunting enthusiast that especially enjoyed waterfowl hunting with his beloved dog, Lars. The Washington Capitals certainly had a number one fan in Raymond. Everyone that knew Raymond knows he had strong opinions and wasn't afraid to share them or one of his bad jokes. He was the fixer of all things that broke, if he couldn't fix it then it couldn't be fixed. Raymond was a member of The Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. Most of all, Raymond was a loving husband and father, a strong family man and provider for his family.

He will be immensely missed by his loving wife, Melissa Brewer, and their two beautiful daughters, Harper Jo and Ashlynn Rae. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard & Betty Birdsong and Joseph Brewer. He is also survived by his mother, Marsha Birdsong Brewer; father, Raymond Brewer, Sr. (Linda); sisters, Jennifer Morrissette, Karman Chronister, Jessica Mahoney, and Angel Lee; mother & father-in-law, Charles & Karen Cavanaugh; brother-in-law, Ross Cavanaugh (Shira); godparents, Eddie & Ann Hanford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close longtime friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 10, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Gregory Memorial Presbyterian Church (6300 Courthouse Rd. Prince George, VA 23875). Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
