Rebecca Jones

Rebecca Chesson Jones, 89, of Petersburg, widow of Wilfred Conway Jones, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Born in Edenton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Maywood and Annie Stillman Chesson. Mrs. Jones grew up in Waverly, VA and graduated from the Waverly High School. She worked at Fort Lee during WWII and volunteered at the hospital at night. In addition, she worked with her husband at Waverly Farmerâ??s Supply, which he operated for many years. She later enjoyed 15 years of service in the accounting department at Petersburg General Hospital before retiring. She is survived by her children, James Wilfred Jones of Petersburg, Judy Jones Schultz and husband, Bobby of Waverly and Jerald Bruce Jones and wife, Pat of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Corey Westbrook Schultz, Wilson Conway Schultz, Maridith Woodward and husband, Scott, and Stephanie Fitzpatrick; one great-grandchild, Abra Woodward; three brothers, Maywood Chesson, Jr. and wife, Mary Ruth of Lakeland, FL, Stillman Chesson and wife, Mary Ann of Sandy Hook, VA, and Mike Chesson and wife, Gayle of Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Ruth Shaw of Miami, FL. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
