Retha Smith

Retha Rae Smith, 62 of Hopewell, VA., died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Smth was born in Jonesboro, AR and had made her home in Hopewell the last few years. She was a newspaper editor and graphic designer. Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late James M. and Retha Rogers Hanley. She is survived by her husband, James Grady Smith of Hopewell, VA, a son, Stewart G. Smith and his wife Denise of Annapolis, MD, a daughter, Elizabeth L. Pittinger and her husband Stefan of Parkland, FL, four grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Smith, William H. Smith, Isabella Pittinger, Gabi Pittinger and a sister, Dr. Pat Petersen and her husband Ken of San Jose, CA. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Graham Patterson of Crater Community Hospice officiating.
