Rev. Maurice Edwin Synan, Sr. passed away on January 4, 2011 in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by his family. He was born on September 8, 1929 in Linden, New Jersey, where his father, Joseph A. Synan, Sr. was serving as pastor of a local Pentecostal Holiness Church. His marriage to Eunice Scott Synan in 1951 produced three children, Edwin, Yvonne, and Scott. He resided in Providence Forge, Virginia where he was a building contractor, Assistant Pastor and worship leader at the Glendale Community Bible Church. After graduating from Holmes Bible College in 1951, Maurice was the Pastor for Pentecostal Holiness Churches in Suffolk and Chesterfield, Virginia. During the late 60â??s and early 70â??s he lead evangelistic crusades with his family throughout the United States, and he had television and radio ministries for many years in the Richmond area. In 1972, he founded the Wings of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church in Richmond, Virginia which is now known as the Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Synan is survived by his former wife Eunice Synan; his two sons, Edwin and Scott; his sister Maurine Gminder; and twin brothers Vernon and Vinson Synan. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 in the funeral home chapel. A private interment will take place at a later date.
