Richard Lee Boyd Sr.

Richard Lee Boyd, Sr., 64 of Chester, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2018. Born in St. Joseph, Michigan he was the son of the late Russell H. Boyd, Sr. and Agnes Lenore Goble Boyd; and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Russell H. Boyd, Jr. and Ronald A. Boyd.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his loving wife, Ellie Boyd of Chester, VA; a daughter, Stacey Smith and husband, Jeffery of Battle Creek, MI; two sons, Richard L. Boyd, Jr. of Chester, VA and Raymond Boyd and girlfriend, Jennifer Vandebrande of Lakeview, MI; a brother, E. Raymond Boyd of Blanchard, MI; nine grandchildren, Allyssa, Jakie, Kayla, Courtney, Brooklynn, Ayden, Bella, Cassie and Ray Jay; two great-grandchildren, Lexi and Felix; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; his SCHEV family and many loving extended family and friends.
Rick enjoyed boating, NASCAR, spending time with his family, riding his Harley and spoiling his dog, Angie girl. His working career spanned a variety of jobs from 14 years at Steelcase, Inc., a private business owner for 5 years, Haworth Company for 5 years, and his latest position at the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia for 11 years. He was also an Emergency Medical Technician and Fire Fighter (Rank Lieutenant). He excelled in every position receiving many accolades for going above and beyond, world class performance and for having an excellent work ethics.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2018 at Destination Church located at 5280 Oaklawn Blvd., Hopewell, VA 23860.
