Richard Laurence Dant

Richard Laurence Dant, 68, of Disputanta, VA passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Born in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Vincent and Marian Barr Dant. Mr. Dant was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict in the 101st Airborne. He enjoyed collecting guns and books, building boats and spending time with his precious grandchildren. Mr. Dant is survived by his two daughters, Rachel Hersh and husband, Rob and Tammy Vreeland and husband, Don; six grandchildren, Lacey, Zoey, RJ, Austin, Alexis and Skyler; one great-grandchild, Adrian; two brothers, Fred Dant and the late Billy Whitfield; three sisters, Kathy Strickland, Tina Jarrard and Lynda Bourdon; a host of nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Ramiro Gonzalez. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
