Mr. Richard L. “Dick” Vaughan, 71, of Petersburg, Virginia, passed away Wednesday June 2, 2004 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Petersburg and was the son of James H. Taylor of Irvington, Virginia and the late, Allien Lee Taylor. Mr. Vaughan was Veteran of the Korean War, and was a Retired CW3 United States Army Reserves, after 42 years of service. He was retired Civil Service Fort Lee, Virginia where he worked as an Education Specialist. In addition to his Father, he is survived by his wife, Betty Copeland Vaughan of Petersburg, one daughter, Ellen Vaughan of Raleigh, N.C. and a number of cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday June 5, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the graveside in Blandford Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Kinney pastor of Crater View Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Friday evening from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. The family suggests that flowers are acceptable but memorials may be made to the SPCA of Petersburg and Colonial Heights, Inc., 1906 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Va., 23834.
