Richard Jarrett Hayes, Jr

Richard Jarrett Hayes, Jr., 72, of Chester, passed away on June 24, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Hayes, Sr. and Mary Hayes; and his sister, Barbara Hayes Wilkes. Richard worked as a pipefitter for 35 years with Allied Chemical/Honeywell. Upon his retirement, he started his own business as a backflow prevention specialist. Richard served for many years on the board of directors at the Hopewell Chemical Federal Credit Union. He liked hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and cruising, and especially enjoyed times spent at the lake with his family. He and his wife Linda considered themselves "Florida snowbirds," as they spent 4 months out of every year down south. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Nicholson Hayes of Chester; son, Richard "Jarrett" Hayes III of Dinwiddie; granddaughter, Makaela Hayes of Midlothian; grandson, Kadin Hayes of Dinwiddie; sister, Donna Throckmorton of Prince George; brother-in-law, John Allen "Pete" Nicholson (Betty) of Chester; nephew, John "Nute" Nicholson of North Carolina; and niece, Elizabeth Mohr of Prince George. The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son - Hopewell, 820 W. Broadway Avenue, on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 6-8 PM.
