Richard Linton Anderson, Jr., 81 of Spring Grove, Virginia passed away on April 14, 2008 in John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell following an extended illness. He was a retired Lieutenant from the Hopewell Bureau of Police. Mr. Anderson was a WWII Navy Veteran and a survivor of two North Atlantic convoy runs to Murmansk, Russia. He was born on March 9, 1927 in Logan County, West Virginia to the late Richard Linton Anderson, Sr. and Thelma Hall Anderson. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by a son, Randy Anderson. He was one of eight children. Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife, of 60 years, Pauline Ellison Anderson, a son Sheriff Greg Anderson and his wife Ellen Hunter of Hopewell, a daughter, Debbie Anderson of Spring Grove, his grandchildren, Katie and Will Anderson and their mother, Pam Anderson, two brothers, Bobby Ray Anderson and his wife Bunny of Melbourne, FL and Bill Anderson and his wife, Anne, of Moyock, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary Ross officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell.
