Richard Louis Krauss, Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully August 6, 2016 after a brief illness. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard L. Krauss, Sr. and Fanny Baker Krauss, and a sister, Ethel Clementson. He is survived by his wife, Gloria June Krauss; son, Jeffrey K. Krauss (Peggy) of Bozeman, Montana; daughters, April H. Vuono (Jeff) of Westerly, Rhode Island, and Martha K. Smith (Cecil) of Disputanta, Virginia; grandchildren, Wynn & Ryan Krauss, Christopher Smith (Katie), and Rebecca Vasquez (John), great-grandchild, Emma Smith; and sisters, Martha Rebay of New York, and Janet Lambert of Tennessee. After completing his education at the University of Louisville in 1952, he served in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1954. Shortly after, Mr. Krauss became a marketing executive of Reynolds Metals, Inc. for 45 years. He was an avid birdwatcher, a life member of the National Audubon Society, and a collector of unique bird statuettes. He loved to observe God’s creations in nature of all types. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 103 S. Adams Street, Petersburg, VA.
