Richard Mayer

Richard Eugene Mayer Jr., 91, of Petersburg, passed away on December 14, 2011. He was the son of the late Richard E. Sr. and Bessie Pegram Mayer. Mr. Mayer was a member of Smithâ??s Grove United Methodist Church. His father started Ashton Dairy Farm in 1919 and Eugene was a partner of that company until 1964 when it was sold. Since then he has been a farmer and also a horse boarder. He is survived by his wife, Christine Fuller Mayer; a son, Michael Mayer and wife, Jill; daughter, Judy Ann Mayer; one granddaughter, Tracy Stephens and husband, Everett; and a great-granddaughter, Seachelle Summer Stephens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Smithâ??s Grove United Methodist Church. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am in the church yard.
