Richard Leo Mccoy Sr.

Richard Leo McCoy, Sr., 71, of Chester, VA passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018. Born in Petersburg, VA he was the son of the late Fred McCoy and Mae McCoy Stell; and was also preceded in death by his sister, Shelia Ann McCoy; and a brother, James D. McCoy. Mr. McCoy was a United States Air Force veteran and was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, VA. He retired from Chesterfield County having worked in the Building and Grounds Department for over 10 years. He had a love for NASCAR and would have attended every race if he was able. Mr. McCoy is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Barbara Carol McCoy; three children, Richard L. McCoy, Jr. and wife, Christine, Tina Blair and Becky Thomas and husband, Robert; two granddaughters, Debra Thomas and Megan Thomas; one sister, Pat Edwards and husband, Tim; a sister-in-law, Leslie McCoy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Dundalow and the Rev. Ron Sowers, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the funeral home.
