Richard Forrest Nunnally, Sr.

Richard "Forrest" Nunnally, Sr., 86, of Dewitt, VA passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Born and raised in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Benjamin George and Mary Ball Nunnally; and was also preceded in death by four siblings, William "Willie" Henry Nunnally, George "Gee" Thomas Nunnally, Sr., Charles Nunnally and Mary "Bootsie" Lucy. Forrest faithfully served his country in the United States Army and had retired from the Dinwiddie County Public Schools Bus Garage as a mechanic. He was a gentle soul and a devout Christian, and was a member of Rocky Run United Methodist Church. He will be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Nunnally is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary S. Nunnally; two children, Richard "Rick" Nunnally, Jr. and wife, Lisa and Melinda N. Cheff and husband, Matthew; three grandchildren, Khacey Coston, Gabriella Huff and husband, Nathaniel and Megan Cheff; three great-grandchildren, Rowan, Edynn and Ezra; two sisters, Avis Huskey and husband, Wayne and Evonne Nunnally; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Rocky Run United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
