Richard "Rick" Hays Bowling

Richard Hays Bowling, 61, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on November 4, 2014 with his family by his side. Born on January 1, 1953 in Richmond, VA he was the son of the late H.H. and Jean Bowling. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1975, he worked for 33 years for the City of Richmond General Courts. After retiring, he traveled with his wife, watched his children graduate, visited Minnesota and Alaska with his son, and walked his daughter down the aisle. The world has lost a great man, husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Ruth Bowling; two children, Kathy Simulcik (Jason) and Dr. Chris Bowling (Melisa Ross); one brother, Roger Bowling (Joan); two sisters, Dianne Cardwell (Frank) and Vicki Terry (John); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Finck, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
