Richard Henry Root

Richard Henry Root, 79, of Hopewell, VA passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Born in Plattsburg, NY he was the son of the late Francis and Rita Root; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Sherwood Root. Mr. Root retired from Allied Signal (Honeywell) after many years of faithful service. He is survived by his wife, Betty Root; a son, Wade Root and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor and Wyatt Root and step-grandson, Cody Duncan; a step-son, Jeff Comer; step-grandchildren, Austin Comer, Sean, Christopher and Kristen Casey; and three great-grandchildren, Leah, Rylee and Mason Casey. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Bermuda Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local SPCA in memory of Richard Root.
