Richard Earl Sheffield, Sr., 73, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Waverly Healthcare, Waverly, Virginia. Born in Waverly on September 16, 1934 he was the son of the late Otis Cleveland Sheffield and Grace Harrup Sheffield. â??Pee Weeâ?, as he was known by so many, retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. and more recently worked for Fresh Pride in Waverly. He was a member of Waverly Baptist Church, Beaverdam Sportsman Club, and Littleton Hunt Club.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Tyus Sheffield; their daughter, Tammy Sadler and her husband, Tracy; a grandson, Seth Ryder Sadler; a stepson, Wesley V. Creasey; a step-grandson, Kyle Creasey; his brothers, James Sheffield, Arthur Lee Sheffield, and George Sheffield; his sisters, Audrey Morris and Marie Jones; special friends, Terry and Shelton Jarratt and their children, Blake and Taylor Jarratt; and a host of extended family and friends. Richard was predeceased by a son, Richard E. â??Bubbaâ? Sheffield, Jr.; and a brother, Cleveland Sheffield.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Keith Whitfield and the Rev. Larry Murray officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening, 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Vol. Fire Dept., P.O.
