Richard Sr. Reid

Richard â??Rayâ? Reid, Sr., age 85, of Hopewell VA, went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 30, 2009. He was born in King William County, VA, the son of the late Thomas E. and Lucy Smith Reid. Mr. Reid was a U. S. Navy veteran during WWII, serving his entire tour of duty on the U.S.S. Belelgeuse, seeing action in the Pacific and European Theater. He was a life member of the VFW. Mr. Reid was also a member of St. James Catholic Church, Hopewell and was a retired operator with Honeywell after working 36 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Josephine â??Joâ? R. Reid; a daughter, Rene R. McKaig and husband, Robert of Mechanicsville, VA; a son, Richard â??Rickâ? R. Reid, Jr. and wife, Pamela of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Andrew and Eric Bourne, Jamie McKaig and wife, Stephanie, and Zack and Kelsey Reid; and a sister, Alma Neal of Greenville, NC. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Monday, November 2, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to the St. James Catholic Church at 510 W.
