Richard Melvin Tingler, Sr., 72 of Chester, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mr. Tingler was born in Alleghany County, VA and had been a long time resident of the Hopewell area prior to moving to Chester. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a retired boiler operator for Allied Chemical Corporation. Mr. Tingler was preceded in death by his parents, George L. and Emma Mae Austin Tingler, two sisters, Edna Gaines and Bertha Wilcher. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jacqueline Craft Tingler of Chester, two daughters, Rhonda T. Hall and her husband Denard of Richmond, Pamela T. Spilman and husband Glenn of Bristow, VA, two sons, Richard M. Tingler, Jr., and his wife Kim, Jeffrey S. Tingler and his wife Michele, all of Chester, grandchildren, Chris Hall and his wife Olivia, Rebecca Spilman, Krysten Tingler, Zac Tingler and Hayley Tingler, one brother, Jim Tingler of Covington, VA. Friends may call at Wesley United Methodist Church on Friday, March 7, 2008 beginning at 6:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM in the church with the Rev. Wayne Rickman, pastor officiating. Visitation to follow until 8:30 PM. A private graveside service will be held with Jim Harrup, Jim Power, Morton Sisson, Chuck Taylor, M.T.
