Robert Linwood Ackerman, Sr. 64 of Dinwiddie County died Monday, November 26, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Hopewell and had been a lifetime resident of the area. Mr. Ackerman was an avid golfer and quarter horse enthusiast. He was a member of Jordan Point Golf Club, Petersburg Country Club, served on the Board of Directors of Southern States, was a member of AQHA, Loyal Order of the Moose #1472 in Hopewell and was a retired salesman for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He was the son of the late Hobson Jenkins and Gussie Thompson Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman is survived by his wife, Donna Howlett Ackerman of Dinwiddie County, four sons, Robert Linwood Ackerman, Jr., Steven Todd Ackerman, Ryan Clayton Ackerman, all of Colonial Heights, James Michael Ackerman of Matoaca, two step-sons, Kevin Scott Lee of Shady Spring, WVA, Christopher N. Lee of High Point, NC, 10 grandchildren, one brother, Hubert â??Hoboâ? Ackerman of Colonial Heights, three sisters, Vivian A. Dale, Adelaide A. Minter, both of Hopewell and Charlotte A. Estes of Colonial Heights. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Randall Hahn of Colonial Heights Baptist Church and Rev. Graham Patterson, Chaplain of Crater Community Hospice officiating. Interment will be private. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 840 W.
