Robert D. Baker

Robert D. Baker, 70, of Prince George, VA passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019. Bob was a Vietnam Veteran and retiree of 24 years in the US Army. He retired after 17 years with the Prince George high school special education department. Bob was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church in 2003 and co-founded the Mission Ministries program in Waverly, Virginia to help the very poor in both Waverly and Prince George VA. Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane and two sons and daughters-in-law Douglas and Margette & Brandon and Melissa. Plus three grandchildren, Taylor, Adrian and Jonas. Also four step grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Frances & Catherine and their 3 daughters and grandson. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Church of the Sacred Heart, 9300 Community Lane (off rt. 460), S. Prince George, VA 23805 with Father Joseph Goldsmith, celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the church.
