Robert Stanley Barnes

Robert Stanley Barnes, 79, a lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Riddick “Preacher” and Edna Washer “Prettie” Barnes and his wife, Olive Morris Barnes. Mr. Barnes served with the Dinwiddie County Auxiliary Police for many years and was a former Assistant Chief of the Old Hickory Volunteer Fire Department. He retired after many years of farming and was a lifelong member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church. Mr. Barnes is survived by his daughter, Anne Marie Adams, grandson, Jacob E. Robertson, both of Dinwiddie, sisters, Margaret B. Whitehead of Winter Haven, FL and Emmie V. Rudder of Marietta, GA, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Pastor Louis A. Collins, III officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Olivet UMC, P.O. Box 156, Dinwiddie, VA 23841.
