Robert Wayne Becker passed away peacefully on New Year's Day 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, after a lengthy bout with bone cancer. Bob was born May 15, 1942, in Richmond, VA. He was the only child of Ortis and Ruby Lee Huggins Becker. Bob graduated from Benedictine High School and attended Sacred Heart Church.
In 1965, Bob married the love of his life, Cecelia Anderton Becker. Cecelia died December 31, 2014.
Bob was an ironworker for more than 40 years. He was a lifetime member and past president of Local #28, and served as an apprenticeship coordinator.
As an adept carpenter, Bob assisted in constructing three of his own houses. He built cabinets and chairs and repaired docks.
For all of his life, Bob cherished his family and close friends, antique cars, dogs, and the Rappahannock River. His neighbors remember him as "always being there to help when needed" and singing country music songs.
Bob will be dearly missed by his grandson, Michael Wayne Brown, who has taken care of Bob for the past 10 years; his daughter, Robin Lee Brown; and his granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Brown.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd, Chester, VA. A graveside service will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be the following: Michael Brown, Keith Garrison, Robbie Moore, Greg Gilliam, Stanley Childs, and Allen Stevens.
A memorial service and dinner will take place at a later date.
If you wish, due to this inclement weather, please donate to The Salvation Army or other shelters, in lieu of flowers.
