Robert Edward Brown, 80, of Colonial Heights passed away on May 11, 2012. He was the son of the late Pete and Lila Brown, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances. Mr. Brown was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a U.S. Army veteran. Robert retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco as a mechanic after 30 years of service. He loved to help people out in any way that he could. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rose C. Brown; two sons, John R. Brown and wife Bonnie, and Keith E. Comer and wife Carolyn; five grandchildren, Matthew Brown and wife, Beverly, Jeremy Brown and wife, Tia, Brittany Brown, Keith Comer and wife, Bobbi, and Brenda Boardman and husband, Earl; six great-grandchildren, Teagan, Andrew, Michael, Jessica, Alexis, and Samantha; one great-great-grandchild, Connor; two brothers, James Brown and wife, Mildred, Pete Brown Jr. and wife, Marie; two sisters, Dortha Baker, Grace Johnson and husband, James; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
