Robert Maxie Cook

Robert “Bob” Maxie Cook, 78, of Prince George, formally of Hopewell, died peacefully in his sleep, in the presence of family and loved ones on Monday May 1, 2017 after a battle with lung cancer. Bob, or Billy (as he was referred to as a young man), was born March 6, 1939 and grew up in the small town of Marion, South Carolina. Bob is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1956-1960 as fuels technician specialist. He was always a dreamer with a fun spirit and loved the energy of being around people. He had many friends in the local area and was an over 30-year resident of Hopewell and Prince George, Virginia. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Maxie Caulder; mother, Dorothy Suggs (Lenwood); sister, Gail Suggs. He is survived by his wife of 50-years, Peggy Cook of Prince George; two sisters, Patty Swartz and Dottie Bohnhoff of Portsmouth; five children, Jamie Cook Anderson (Michael) of Bristow, Virginia, Keith Cook (Donna) of Niles, Michigan Donald Cook (Tammy) of Stoneville, North Carolina, Jeff Cook (Bobbie) of Gloucester; Virginia Robyn Cook Perez of Prince George, Virginia. Bob was a beloved grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 3. Bob is now in a better place, out of pain, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday May 3, 2017 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home Hopewell Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday May 4, 2017 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George.
