Robert Joseph Gagne, 71, of Prince George, VA, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on September 25, 2019. Born in Darmstadt, West Germany, he was the son of MAJ (Ret) Armand and Johanna Gagne. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anita P. Gagne of North Prince George, VA; step-son, Robert D. Means of Ashland, VA; sister Ellyn Atkinson of Frederick, MD; brother, Bruce Gagne of Charles Town, WV; nieces, Jordan Nova of Columbia, MD, and Kristen Atkinson of Elkridge, MD; nephews, Cooper and Calvin Gagne of Charles Town, WV. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald, Michael and Gerald, as well as both parents. Bob leaves behind many friends from a wide variety of interests. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, having served as a radioman aboard the USS Allen M. Sumner (DD-692). He was a 1975 graduate of Northwestern State University in Louisiana and received a Master of Health Professions from Southwest Texas State University in 1980. Bob retired after 36 years of federal civilian service with the Department of the Army. His work brought him to FT Polk, LA, Denver, CO, San Antonio, TX, FT Bragg, NC culminating in FT Lee, VA. He enjoyed observing nature, riding his motorcycle, singing karaoke and had a soft spot for stray cats. A public funeral service will not be held, but his varied friends are warmly encouraged to gather together in a location that best reminds them of Bob in a celebration of his life.
