Robert "Bob" James Holiday, Sr., 80, passed from this life into God's loving presence following a brief battle with cancer in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on October 22, 2018. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Janet Holiday, in 2012. He is survived by his children, son Robert James Holiday, Jr. (Wendy Powell Holiday) and daughter Donnalynn Holiday Laver (Christian Laver) along with grandchildren Robert Holiday III (Mayuka Holiday), Jessica Holiday McCoy (Ryan McCoy), Megan Holiday Eiler (Andrew Eiler), and Timothy Laver; adored by great-grandchildren Emily, Julie and Molly Holiday, Liam and Genevieve McCoy, Vincent and Jasey Eiler. Bob has two surviving sisters, Ruth Hampe and Freda Frantz, and is preceded in death by brothers Paul Holiday, Harry Holiday, and Jerry Holiday. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.Bob was born on December 30, 1937 in Confluence, PA to the late Martin Urias Holiday and Sybil Grace (Pletcher) Holiday and graduated from Turkeyfoot High School. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard completing local missions including flood rescue and recovery and forest fire containment. He was employed as a crane operator at Babcock & Wilcox steel mill in Beaver Falls for just short of 20 years and ended his working years in the role of custodian at Blackhawk School District. He served his Eastvale community as a volunteer firefighter, council member, and community redevelopment chair from the early 1970's until he moved from the community following a house fire in 2007. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on November 10, 2018 at The Church of the Nazarene, 417 Penn Ave., New Brighton, PA 15066 with Pastor Donald W. MacNeil officiating. A luncheon for family and friends will follow in the fellowship hall. Bob will be laid to rest at a private family interment, Silbaugh Cemetery, Fort Hill, PA.
