Robert Lee Jackson

Robert Lee Jackson (“Hard Rock”) of The Villages, FL, formerly of Chester, Va., passed away on October 26, 2015. He was born with a jovial spirit on March 12, 1934 in Sutherland, VA. He was the son of the late Julius Manfield Jackson and Annie Ruth Mumford. He was preceded in death by brothers, Claiborne and James Jackson and sisters, Catherine Eve, Francis Bell, Betty Ann Wade and Emily White.
Robert retired from Brown and Williamson after 35 years and also worked for Hauni Tobacco Company. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Colonial Heights Fire Department and EMS. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed many weekends with friends and family watching the races. Robert loved his dogs and always enjoyed their company especially his dachshund, Heidi.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Francine, daughter Patty Moody, grandson, Jackson Moody, and stepsons Anthony (Russ) and Daniel (Del) Wall; sisters, Doris Thompson (Jim), Sue Greene, and brothers, Raymond “Sonny” Jackson (Barbara), David Jackson (Joan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Woodlawn Baptist Church on Saturday, October 31st. The meeting of family and friends will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon with the service immediately following. He will be buried at Sunset Memorial Park following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Colonial Heights Fire Department and EMS or Woodlawn Baptist Church. The Firefighters will be honoring Robert as his pallbearers. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
