Robert Jones

Robert Beasley Jones, Sr., 66, of Dinwiddie died Friday, May 13, 2005 at his home. He was born in Richmond and was the son of the late Boyd Beasley and Annie Laura Nash Jones. He was a graduate of Chowan College, East Carolina University and the College of William & Mary where he received his Master?s Degree. He was the Dinwiddie High School principal from 1974 to 1992 and was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1979 to 1991. Mr. Jones was a member of Crawford United Methodist Church, Dinwiddie, the Dinwiddie Ruritan Club, the Dinwiddie Volunteer Fire Department, the Dinwiddie Volunteer Rescue Squad, AARP Chapter # 1399 and the Tri-City Senior Olympians. He is survived by his son, Robert Beasley Jones, Jr. of Richmond and a daughter, Susan Nash Jones Skinner of Greenville, NC. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 17, at 11 a.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. Tom Lester, pastor of Crawford United Methodist Church, the Rev. Robert Roland, pastor of Smyrna Baptist Church and the Rev. Roland Powell, pastor emeritus of Matoaca Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at LaCrosse Cemetery, LaCrosse, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crawford United Methodist Church, Smyrna Baptist Church or the Dinwiddie Volunteer Rescue Squad.
