Robert Mitchell Lewis Jr.

Robert Mitchell Lewis, Jr., 64, of Dinwiddie, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lewis, Sr. and Edith Rice Lewis. Robert was a 1971 graduate of Dinwiddie High School and member of The Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing softball and coaching Dinwiddie Little League and Dinwiddie Babe Ruth baseball. He was also a former Chief of Dinwiddie Company 1 Fire and EMS. He is survived by his wife, Judith Humphries Lewis; two daughters, Stephanie Vaughan and Robin Howerton (Clarence); son, Robert M. Lewis, III; three grandchildren, Damian E. Vaughan, Sarah K. Vaughan and Jessica R. Howerton; great-grandson, Lincoln M. Vaughan; two sisters, Bunnie L. Goad and Bobbie Poarch; brother, Billy D. Lewis; and multiple nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
